THE NEXT GENERATION TAKES OVER!

This January, the spotlight belongs to the next generation.

At the «the movement ARENA Youth Edition meets BadenBreaks» young people play an active role in shaping the event – from organization and social media to hosting and production. Youth and young adults aged 14 to 24 take on responsibility, guided and supported by experienced «Movementors». On the dance floor, everything revolves around the next generation as well. Kids, youth, beginners and up-and-coming dancers from Switzerland and neighboring countries come together for battles, showcases, cypher sessions and plenty of exchange. For families, friends, breaking fans and anyone wanting to experience urban dance live, the Youth Edition marks the kickoff into Arena 2027.

We are a family-friendly event!

NEWCOMER SUPPORT!

Many young talents are still at the very beginning of their battle journey. That is exactly what we want to create space for. In the 1vs1 B-Boy Kids (up to 12 years) category, the roster will be split after the preselection. The TOP8 dancers will advance to battle in their own Pro-Am bracket, while the next 16 will form the Newcomer bracket to compete for the win. This ensures better-suited matchups, fair chances and, above all, more battle experience for everyone.

LONGEST MOVES

«Still got energy left?»

Between the battles, you can show what you’ve got during the Longest Moves challenges: handstands, windmills, headspins, backspins, handglides and more. Which specific challenges take place depends on your skills! The contest will be hosted by Guinness World Record holder Patrick Grigo. We’ll capture your best attempts on video and document them in the and8.dance breaking record database.

FEEDBACK FROM THE JUDGES

«After the preselections, we open the floor for exchange.»

In an open feedback session, you can speak directly with the judges, ask questions, and take away constructive feedback on your performance. We want to break down barriers and create a space for genuine peer-to-peer exchange. This gives you the chance to gain fresh perspectives, clear up any questions, and grow as dancers.

SPECTATORS

BadenBreaks is an open event and therefore free of charge for all visitors, parents, families, and dance enthusiasts. Feel free to drop by anytime and celebrate Hip Hop and breaking culture in its purest form with us!

LOCATION

The event takes place at Trafo Baden, right inside the «Trafo Mall». There is a large parking garage located underneath the venue (entrance via Bruggerstrasse) and it is just an easy 300-meter walk from the «Baden AG» train and bus station. Inside the mall, you will find clean public restrooms, a gallery, a kiosk, a bar and a restaurant/café. Supermarkets are also located nearby (around 300 meters away) and within easy walking distance.

we look forward to growing with you and creating networks and platforms like this for the future. Let's go!

Since 2027, BadenBreaks has been part of «the movement ARENA» and is realized as a co-production between the association «the movement» from Basel and the «Move Too Hot Company» from Germany, in cooperation with «Trafo Baden» and «Sterk Cine AG». We are deeply grateful to the association «Atelier Riverside 253» and its artistic directors, Brigitta Luisa Merki and her husband Pit Hartmeier, who first brought this event to life alongside Patrick Grigo in 2023 and have supported it ever since.Phone: +49 171 6482447 | E-Mail: welcome@badenbreaks.ch | Imprint | Contact
